Résumé et principaux résultats

The noise of domestic and industrial ventilation systems is a frequent source of complaints from the people living in the dwellings as well as from workers and neighbours of industrial installations. The objective of this presentation is to make a short overview of the main causes of noise in ventilation systems and to explain how the noise may be anticipated and reduced. A major source of noise is the fan itself. We explain the origin of noise according to the fan type and we show how to measure and roughly estimate the fan noise level in order to make acoustic diagnostics on existing installations. Another source of noise is due to the passage of the air flow through the various components of the ventilation ductwork. The causes of flow generated noise by those component are briefly explained, as well the ability of the ductwork to attenuate the ductborne noise.

Résumé : Cette note présente un bref aperçu des sources de bruit des systèmes de ventilation, à savoir le ventilateur et les composants du réseau de gaines de ventilation. Les causes et paramètres principaux qui interviennent dans la génération et l'atténuation du bruit sont rappelés, ainsi que quelques moyens de réduction du niveau sonore.
