Aerodynamic noise of fans
Résumé et principaux résultats
The objective of this paper is to present to non-specialists the physical mechanisms that give rise to fan noise emission. After a short description of the different sound sources for the different types of fans, noise generation mechanisms are presented, namely tonal noise at the fan blade passage frequency and broadband noise related to turbulent flow mechanisms. One of the main broadband noise sources is blade self-noise, which also occurs for instance on a fixed airfoil in an airflow. This paper particularly details the mechanisms associated with this noise source. Texte du document AIVC CR 01.
