Influence of a venturi on the spread of a compressed air jet within a bag filter

Abstract: The aim of the study is to assess the benefit to use a venturi at the opening of a bag filter to improve the spread of a compressed air jet. A 4.13 m polyester bag filter has been equipped with accelerometers and pressure transducers in order to study the spread of a compressed air jet within the bag. Measurements have been done with no venturi, a covering venturi and the non-covering venturi. The influence of the distance between the nozzle (from where the jet comes) and the venturi and/or the bag has been studied too. The non-covering venturi appears to be the best configuration.
